Tel Links Trouble Shooting

If "tel" links are not opening in your browser, it's likely due to a misconfiguration in your system's default app settings or browser settings. To resolve this, you'll need to ensure your browser is configured to handle "tel" links correctly and that the desired calling application is set as the default for those links.

 

Here's a breakdown of the troubleshooting steps:


1. Check Default App Settings:
Windows:
Go to Settings > Apps > Default apps > Choose your VoIP App (ex: RingCentral, GoTo) > In "TEL" section, choose your phone provider and make it the "default"

macOS:
Go to System Settings > [Your browser] > Default Browser App. Ensure the browser you're using is set as the default. You may also need to adjust the default handler for tel links within the browser settings.
 
2. Enable Click-to-Call in Chrome (if applicable):
  • Type chrome://flags/ in the address bar.
  • Search for "click to call".
  • Enable the "Click to Call" flag and relaunch Chrome.
