Record a personal auto quote on a household: the policy the person has now with another carrier, and the quote you are offering. Both go on the household's Quotes tab, under Vehicle.
Before you start
Add the household's vehicles and drivers first. A new quote is attached to every vehicle already on the household, and a claim needs a vehicle and a driver.
Steps
Open the household from Leads, Prospects or Customers, or find it with the search box at the top of the page. Open the Quotes tab. Its tabs are Vehicle, Home, Life, Umbrella, Specialty and Commercial, and Vehicle is the one that opens first.
- To enter the policy the person has now, click Add quote in the 3rd-party (competitor) column. A new card appears. Open it and add in any competitor details you have.
- Click Save. The card shows "Unsaved changes" until you do.
- To enter your own quote, click Add quote in the 1st-party (our quotes) column and open the card. Enter in your quote details. Click Save.
- To record a claim, use Claims at the bottom of the tab. Click Add claim and fill in Vehicle, Driver, Date of incident and Type (Accident or Violation). Tick At fault or Disputed if they apply, add Notes if you want, then click Add claim.
- To start your quote from a competitor's, open the 3rd-party card and click Copy Coverages, or Copy Coverages & Vehicles to copy the per-vehicle coverages too. If you already have a 1st-party quote that is not sold, you will be asked to "Replace coverages on" the oldest one. Click Replace to overwrite its coverages and discard any unsaved edits on it, which cannot be undone, or Cancel. If you have none, it will create a 1st-party quote with the copied coverages and your Default Values for the rest. Only Copy Coverages & Vehicles adds vehicles to that new quote.
What happens next
The quote stays on the household's Quotes tab. Buttons at the bottom of the card move the quote through its stages, and which ones show depends on the quote's stage. Mark Sold shows only on a 1st-party quote that is marked complete or sent. Copy makes a duplicate of the card. Delete removes it, and is hidden once the quote is sold.
Troubleshooting
If you see "Add a vehicle and a driver first" where Add claim should be, add the missing vehicle or driver to the household, then come back to Claims.
If Save is greyed out, nothing on the card has changed since the last save.
If a new quote starts with some fields already filled in, most are your own Default Values, set under Account Setup > Default Values.
