Creating a New Lead v2

Adding a lead takes two steps in v2. You enter the basics on the Add Lead page, and then you fill in the rest on the household's own page. Anyone on your team can do it.

Before you start

Search for the household first so you don't create a duplicate. Click the search box at the top, or press Ctrl+J (⌘J on a Mac), and type at least three characters. If the list says No members found., the household isn't in your agency yet.

Steps

  1. Click New at the top right, then Add Lead.

  2. At the top, leave the toggle on Personal, or pick Commercial to add a business. Steps 3 to 6 are for Personal. A Commercial lead has its own form: enter the Business name, Best contact, Best phone and a full address, then go to step 7.
  3. Under Name, enter the First name and Last name. Both are required to create a new lead.
  4. Under Contact, enter a Mobile phone, Home phone or Email. You need at least one of them, or a complete address to create a new lead.
  5. If the person has agreed to be texted, tick Has text/SMS consent. A SMS Consent box opens; click Agree to confirm.
  6. Under Address, start typing in Street address and pick the match from the list. This fills in City and ZIP. State starts as your agency's state; change it if the address is in another state.
  7. Click Create at the top right.

What happens next

You see "Lead created" and land on the new household's page. Fill in the rest there:

  • Producer is who is assigned that lead. It will default to the person who created the lead.
  • Source is how the lead came in. It affects how the lead is ranked, so fill it in. Pick the closest option.
  • Best time to call can be used as a filter from your call view page.
  • Set follow-up date at the top of the page is the next time you want to work this lead.
  • Click Add Member to add other people in the household.
  • Under Residences, add the home so you can quote it.
  • Open the Vehicles tab and click Add vehicle to add each vehicle.
  • In the Tags card, add a tag to record the marketing campaign. The lead lists show tags in a column called Marketing Source.
  • Notes is for anything you want to remember on the next call.

(Note for Texas: For households with a complete Texas address, Discover Drivers (on the members list) and Discover Vehicles (on the Vehicles tab) look up the people and cars linked to that address, so you don't have to type them.)

Troubleshooting

  • On a Personal lead, if Create is greyed out, check that you entered a First name, Last name and at least one form of contact.
  • On a Commercial lead, Create is not greyed out. If a required field is empty, an error shows under it after you click Create.
  • If you see an error under a field after Create, fix that field and click Create again. Nothing is saved until it succeeds.
