Texting Integration with RingCentral

What is RingCentral?

RingCentral is a cloud-based communications platform enabling users to initiate and receive phone calls, text messages, and execute various other communication tasks.

How do I set up a RingCentral account?

Step 1: Go to RingCentral's website to create an account and integrate it with Agency MVP.

Step 2: Once you set up a RingCentral account, you'll then need to register your Brand and a Campaign.

RingCentral's instructions for that process are available here.

Step 3: Once your brand is approved and you are ready to use RingCentral to text through MVP, on the Account Information page (agency owner only), you will see the option to Use RingCentral for SMS at your agency. You MUST check this box to be able to text using RingCentral once the integration steps below are completed.

Note: If you would like everyone at the agency to use the same RingCentral phone line for texting, please enter that phone number in the Override RingCentral SMS Number box.

How do I integrate my RingCentral account with Agency MVP?

*Each team member will have to complete these steps to connect their own account

1. Agency Owner, click your name at the top right in MVP and go to your Account Information page and scroll down to the Texting Integration Settings. Here, you will choose RingCentral from the dropdown menu. Click Save.

Note: If you want to use the same texting number for everyone at the agency, you can enter that number in the Override RingCentral SMS Number section. In order for everyone to use this number, you need to make sure their RingCentral accounts have access to that line.

2. Now, each user can go to their My Account Settings page and under the RingCentral Settings section, click Connect Your Account. This will direct you to log into YOUR RingCentral account.

Note: If anything is done on the RC side that makes the connection invalid (password change is one clear example, but there could be other possible causes), then you will receive an email informing you to reconnect your account in order to give us access again.
3. Log into your RingCentral account.

4. Once you log into your RingCentral account, your texting number should automatically be filled into the RingCentral SMS Number box. If you need to change this number, you can manually type in your texting number.

Note: If the agent has chosen the same number for everyone at the agency to use for texting, you will not be able to change your texting number.

Troubleshooting:

Getting a MSG-304 error?

MSG-304 means the phone number you are trying to text with is not assigned to your user account in RingCentral. If the Account Owner wants to use the same number for everyone, the RingCentral admin can add you as an extension on that texting phone number.

Please reach out to RingCentral for questions on how to add a user to your texting line.
